The panda's name comes from the Nepalese word 'Nigalya Ponya'. The Nepalese term ‘Nigalya Ponya‘ literally translates to ‘eater of bamboo’. The word Ponya later became panda in the Western Regions, which explains why we call them pandas today. Another fun fact is that pandas are only about the length of a pencil when they are born, blind and pink. But they grow quickly while shielded by their mother's love! And did you also know that there are also only an estimated 1,800 pandas left in the wild today? These beautiful creatures are in critical danger of becoming extict. Each animal design from The Sparkling Pebble is digitally sculpted with much care. They are completely sculpted, on all sides and the bottom, and are solid metal. They are cast in the metal of your choice, and antiqued and polished by hand. The metal is given a matte finish, which helps the intricate details stand out even more. Each one is hand packed and sent out with love. All of the metal used is 100% recycled metal, and all of the work and materials on the pendant itself are made in the USA.
